The City Council will consider the issue of increasing the minimum distance. The Oryol City Council of People's Deputies began discussing an initiative to maximize the distance of drinking establishments from playgrounds and institutions.
According to the press service of the city parliament, the idea has already been supported by the speaker of the city council Vasily Novikov. It is expected that it will be considered at the next meeting of the relevant committee.
As explained in the City Council, the essence of the initiative is to revise the minimum distance that should separate alcohol selling points from children's, educational and medical institutions. Playgrounds are also planned to be added to this list.
The current boundaries and restrictions were approved in Oryol in 2013. According to the parliamentarians, they do not meet the requirements of today. So, the distance from a drinking establishment to children's and educational institutions, as well as sports facilities and other places of mass gathering of citizens should be at least 20 meters, to medical facilities - at least 10 meters.
It is proposed to increase this distance to at least 150 meters. According to the deputy Timur Nerushev, the initiative was dictated by the complaints of the townspeople. For example, such an appeal was submitted by residents of houses 274, 282 and 284 on Komsomolskaya Street. They complain about the operation of the beer shop located near School 28 and the playground.
If the initiative is supported and the distance is increased, some of the traders in Oryol will face a serious problem. After all, they will either have to change their specialization, or look for a new place to trade. It is clear that the playgrounds will not be moved because of the "beer shops".
