A leopard attacked a two-year-old child at the zoo in the village of Borisovka near Ussuriysk. The boy was taken to the hospital with lacerations and bites. This was reported on Wednesday, January 10, on the website of the Primorsky Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
It was established that the family came from the city of Arseniev to the zoo for an excursion. When the parents were distracted by their eldest four-year-old son, the youngest approached the predator's pen. He grabbed his head with his paws.
“The boy ran to the cage with a leopard, he had a bucket in his hands, as we can feed non-predatory animals. The leopard itself is small and young: the height at the withers is just above the knee, it is about a year old. When everything happened, the staff took the eldest child to a warm room to distract him, and the youngest was called an ambulance,”a spokesman for the zoo, Alexandra Popova, told RIA Novosti.
Administrative protocols were drawn up against the parents for improper performance of their duties. The boy is all right.
As RIA Novosti adds, the zoo management will strengthen the fencing around the cage with the leopard.
