A chance for an active life. 13-year-old Dominika Alekseeva from Sochi needs urgent surgery. The girl has a very rare heart defect. The fight for health has been going on since birth. And now there was hope for success. She was given at the Boston Heart Center in the United States. But surgery costs more than 10 million rubles. MIR 24 correspondent Olga Zhemchugova learned how to help Dominica.
Dominica is an excellent student, reads a lot, draws and even knits well. The perfect calm child. But she would also like other entertainments - running in the yard, going hiking, rollerblading. The disease does not allow. The girl has a very rare form of heart disease. Occurs in one out of 100 thousand patients.
“We learned about Dominica's diagnosis the day after birth. During the daily examination at the maternity hospital in Sochi, the doctor looked, and she did not like her breathing. The child was completely undressed, and she saw that her feet and hands were blue,”said the girl's mother.
Then 13 years of struggle. The child underwent several operations. The parents spent all their savings, sold all the property to pay for the treatment. But this was not enough. Now, due to the malfunctioning of the heart, it is difficult for the girl to move, and other internal organs also suffer.
“She began to sleep more. She lost her activity. The child sits or lies for more time, it is difficult for her to move,”says Dominica's mother Violetta Gudkova.
Hope was given at the Boston Heart Center in the United States. There, Dominica was promised: she will be like all healthy children. But the required operation costs 141 thousand dollars, which is more than 10 million rubles.
“I have nothing else to sell. Well, it is unlikely that we will earn so much,”says the mother of the child.
Now Dominica and her mother live in their grandmother's communal apartment. Dad left - he could not come to terms with his daughter's diagnosis. But she and her mother still hope for a miracle and continue to fight.
“I dream that as soon as possible I will recover and live like all ordinary children, and when I grow up, I want to become a doctor and treat people, and travel the world,” admitted Dominika Alekseeva.
