Ten annexes to kindergartens were opened on Friday, the day of the anniversary of the formation of the Trans-Baikal Territory, in Chita. They will bring up 360 children under the age of three, Yekaterina Gorskaya, press secretary of the regional Ministry of Education, told TASS.

“Ten extensions to kindergartens for children under three have opened in Chita. Each of the outbuildings is designed for 36 places. Their opening made it possible to increase the provision of preschool education for young children by 5%,”Gorskaya said.
The outbuildings were built in 2018 as part of the state program "Development of Education in the Russian Federation". In total, 16 such outbuildings were erected in Transbaikalia over the past year. In addition to Chita, they appeared in the village of Aginskoye and the Aginsky region. More than 400 million rubles were spent on their construction from budgets of all levels.
In 2019, the authorities of the Trans-Baikal Territory intend to build 15 annexes to existing kindergartens in order to provide places for 540 children under the age of three. Over 300 million rubles will be spent on this. New extensions will appear not only in Chita and the village of Aginskoye, but also in eight districts of Transbaikalia.
As specified in the Ministry of Education of the Territory, in total in the region it is necessary to create more than 6 thousand places for children under three years old. At the same time, 2.6 thousand places will be created under the national project "Demography".
The Trans-Baikal Territory in 2017 did not fulfill the program to solve the problem with the queue to kindergartens for children from three to seven years old. The former governor of the region, Natalya Zhdanova, promised Russian President Vladimir Putin to resolve the issue by the end of 2018. According to data provided by TASS in the regional Ministry of Education, now 95% of children aged three to seven years are provided with places in kindergartens in the Trans-Baikal Territory.
