In Lviv schools, starting from 2017, the school curriculum will include a subject dedicated to the preservation and popularization of the memory of the victims of the armed conflict in Donbass. 51 deputies of the City Council voted for such a decision on Thursday, November 10, reports the portal Zahid.net.
Among other things, it is planned to purchase sets of weapons for educational institutions. “We are talking about machine guns and pistols, which children will assemble and disassemble,” - said the acting head of the education department of the Lviv city administration Zoryana Dovganik.
Centers for military-patriotic education, sports training and self-defense will also be created in schools, meetings with the “heroes of the ATO” (anti-terrorist operation, as Kiev calls military action in Donbass), thematic contests and festivals will be held. “ATO warriors will come to kindergartens for the" Fairy Tale with a Warrior "event," Dovganik said.
In August, the Ukrainian Institute of National Memory announced that high school students from September 1 will study the history of the country under a new program. "Lenta.ru"), "Anti-terrorist operation in Donbass", Ukraine's victory at the Eurovision Song Contest in 2004 and 2016. Much attention is also paid to the study of the biographies of figures who "contributed to the development of Ukraine" - Stepan Bandera, Roman Shukhevych, Simon Petliura, Yevhen Konovalets, Petro Poroshenko.
In the same month, the Ministry of Education canceled the study of the addition table in full in the first and second grades. In addition, a number of songs have been removed from the program of the subject "musical education", in particular, "Down the Mother Volga" and "Holy War".
