BARNAUL, November 28. / TASS /. More than 15 million rubles were raised in 2017 thanks to the "Let's Support a Child" charity marathon taking place in the Altai Territory. This is a record amount in nine years of the action, Governor Alexander Karlin told reporters on Tuesday.

“The scale of the project is increasing. Not only the amount of funds raised, there are quite a few of them this year - 15.5 million rubles, but also the number of participating in this wonderful project - enterprises, teams, entrepreneurs. Indeed, more [funds] have been collected than in any from previous years, but this is not an end in itself. There are more and more inhabitants of the region of various ages and social groups in the marathon - and this is probably the most important thing, "said Karlin.
According to the head of the region, during the marathon it raised about 100 million rubles, which made it possible to help six thousand children. Karlin noted that today the marathon is one of the brands of the Altai Territory, thanks to the growth of its scale, the opportunities for providing assistance and support to children with health problems in difficult life situations are expanding.
"Collective means of rendering assistance have been created, assistance has been provided this year to a huge number of children - 2.3 thousand, this is a very big breakthrough. This year, children with diabetes who need them will be fully provided with pumps," said the chairman of the public board of trustees to support children in difficult life situations, Yakov Shoikhet. He added that as part of the marathon, autistic children also receive help - a special rehabilitation room has been organized for them. In addition, the marathon funds are used to purchase drugs for children with cerebral palsy, which help to relax muscles by almost 99%.
The "Support a Child" marathon has been held in the Altai Territory since 2009 - within its framework, funds are collected to provide medical assistance to children with complex diseases. Children with cystic fibrosis, diabetes mellitus, hearing impairments and other diseases receive help.
