Nikolai Cherkasov, Deputy Chairman of the Moscow Regional Duma Committee on State Power and Regional Security, considers it redundant to recommend refraining from Epiphany bathing. The deputy informed the Moscow City News Agency about this.
“My position in this situation is that one cannot bring the situation to the point of absurdity. And in this situation, if you properly organize this procedure (Epiphany bathing - approx. Agency "Moscow"), then, there are not so many places that will be officially allowed for this rite. I think that there is nothing wrong with that. In my opinion, this (to recommend citizens to refrain from baptismal bathing - approx. Agency "Moscow") is an excessive measure. I believe that if it is reasonable to organize all this, then there is no need to introduce far-fetched restrictions, in any case. Firstly, all people in the changing tents do not immediately enter and cannot enter a priori. Secondly, if you organize the sequence, distance correctly, observe elementary security measures, then there is nothing wrong with that,”Nikolai Cherkasov said.
Earlier, the media reported that the Rospotrebnadzor department of the Omsk region recommended refraining from Epiphany bathing due to the coronavirus, since the locker rooms are crowded places.
