OMSK, March 21. / Corr. TASS Alexey Petrov /. The charity center for helping children "Raduga" opened on Wednesday in the village of Podgorodka, Omsk Region, the first hospice beyond the Urals for terminally ill children "House of Rainbow Childhood". The therapeutic building is already ready to receive children, the project of the dormitory where their relatives will stay is undergoing an examination.

"This is a hospice of the European format. The philosophy of the European hospice is to help not only the child, but also his family. If a child is terminally ill, then it is impossible to save him, doctors are not gods, you can only alleviate suffering. But we can help parents to save the family, to understand that life is not over, think about procreation, "- told TASS chairman of the board of" Rainbow "Valery Evstigneev.
He said that the idea of creating such a palliative care center arose after visiting more than a dozen hospices in Europe. “I saw this global difference and decided to use the resources of the public to create a hospice in our country for families whose children were treated so harshly by fate,” the social activist shared. Evstigneev noted that in Russia terminally ill children are simply discharged from the hospital. "In fact, no help is provided to them, and the children die in agony and suffering."
Close relatives of such children also need help. "In the Omsk region there was a case when a mother died of such a child, and she hanged herself. This is an extreme psychological state, hopelessness. Our task is to prevent this," Yevstigneev emphasized.
According to him, the palliative care center is already in great demand. "Parents call, ask. Yes, now we cannot offer them first-class living conditions, but we can somehow help the child," said the public figure, noting that for both children and parents all services, accommodation and meals are free.
Hospice project
Evstigneev said that the complex was designed for 10 families around the clock, about 200 families will go through the hospice in a year. "This is very few. In the Omsk region today there are more than a thousand such families," he said.
The project is being implemented with public funds. "The construction of the therapeutic building cost 55 million rubles, the design cost of the dormitory complex is about 100 million rubles. Its project is now undergoing examination," the public figure said. Raduga is also considering the possibility of building two semi-detached houses for staff.
The head of "Rainbow" said that 70-80% of the hospice maintenance will be funded by donations. "And we expect that the health care system will provide us with specialists, whom we ourselves will finish teaching and will pay extra for them," Yevstigneev noted.
The charity center for helping children "Raduga" was founded in 1997 by It is a non-profit, non-political, non-religious organization, the purpose of which is to help orphans, sick children, disabled children, low-income families, large families who find themselves in difficult life situations. In 2017 alone, the fund raised more than 55 million rubles of donations, of which more than 20 million rubles were from individuals.
