More than 300 participants from all educational institutions of Vladimir competed in poetry reading. A large-scale event took place at the Palace of Children's (Youth) Creativity. The city competition of readers "The Golden and Silver Age of Russian Poetry" was held in several nominations at once: grades 1-4, grades 5-9, grades 9-11.

It is worth noting that the reading competition was held within the framework of the Multinational Russia project and contributes to the formation in children, first of all, of a sense of tolerance and respect for other national cultures.
The organizers of the competition were the national diasporas living in the region. The purpose of the readings, as they explained, is to educate children and young people to love the Russian language and Russian literature. “Our country is multinational. A large number of nationalities live on the vast territory of the country, but one thing unites us for sure - the Russian language,”the organizers addressed the children.
The jury noted that, first of all, each participant must read one poem of the poets of the golden or silver age. And then their performance will be assessed according to several criteria: knowledge of the text of the work by heart, intonation expressiveness and clarity of speech, artistry, presentation style, artistic design and, of course, the transfer of the spirit of the poem itself. The winners of the competition will take part in the regional reading competition.
“We live in peace and harmony. It is probably a great happiness when you, dear children, thanks to your teachers, your parents, and, of course, your own talent, make your first discoveries in this wonderful world of Russian poetry. The Russian language is a force that unites the whole world,”said Alexander Karpilovich, head of the city's public relations and media department.
The children recited poetry for several hours. Favorite authors among children turned out to be Yesenin, Akhmatova. Some even chose Zinaida Gippius. The schoolchildren have a simple argument - they like her poetry. And such contests are considered necessary to instill a love for the beauty and wealth of the Russian language.
