First Deputy Minister of Labor and Social Protection of the Russian Federation Alexei Vovchenko called the "reproductive mood" of Russian women high, according to him, many women are inclined to have children, which is confirmed by the results of surveys and statistics.
Vovchenko on Tuesday attended a meeting of the State Duma Committee on Family, Women and Children, where he made a presentation on the implementation of the federal project "Financial support for families at the birth of children", which is part of the national project "Demography".
During the meeting, Deputy Chairman of the Committee Elena Vtorygina asked Vovchenko a question about what could motivate women to have children.
"I would position (this) not so as to force a woman to give birth, but from the point of view of the family's predisposition and the family's ability to have a child … Fortunately, the reproductive moods of women are very high, they are attuned to children - this is what polls show, and statistics show even in comparison with other European countries. That is, such a radical break in the reproductive mood, in attitudes, traditions did not happen, "Vovchenko replied.
He noted that the decision on the birth of children should be made by the family. "But it is precisely the guarantee of family stability in the event of a child's birth, not falling into poverty, keeping a job - this is an important factor, we must focus all the activities (of the national project) on this," Vovchenko said.
