MOSCOW, July 10 - RIA Novosti. It is necessary to create an alimony fund so that the state can take over the payment of alimony for parents who are unable to do it on their own due to the COVID-19 pandemic; the possibility of creating a fund is being discussed in the State Duma Committee on Family, Women and Children, Committee member Valentina Mironova (United Russia) told RIA Novosti.

Earlier, Irina Volynets, a member of the Commission of the Public Chamber of the Russian Federation on demography, protection of families, children and traditional family values, appealed to the government with a proposal to take responsibility for children whose parents are unable to pay child support due to the pandemic.

"It is necessary to fulfill (alimony - ed.) Obligations. In order for the state to undertake such obligations during a pandemic, I think that we are talking about the alimony fund that our committee is talking about," said Mironova.

She explained that the funds will be paid to families from the alimony fund, and then collected from the parent who was supposed to pay alimony.

Mironova said that she would discuss this issue with her colleagues in the committee on Monday or Tuesday and "perhaps something serious, clear, and intelligible" will ripen, which will make it possible to get closer to the development of the corresponding bill. The MP noted that this requires the consent of the government, since there is a financial component here.
