“The cardiac surgery department was founded in 2008, over the full 10 years of work, about 3.7 thousand children have been operated on here. This is the department that is constantly evolving. A rather large share of technically complex operations for combined heart defects is carried out here. In recent years, endovascular interventions have also been actively developing,”A. Chubarova said.

According to her, in 2018, the share of endovascular interventions amounted to about a third of all operations carried out in the department. “These techniques have begun to bring cardiac surgery closer to the general world trends in pediatric surgery to reduce the aggressiveness of interventions. In 2018, the share of such interventions amounted to a third of all our operations,”A. Chubarova emphasized.

Cardiac surgery department at the Children's City Clinical Hospital named after Filatova is the first and until 2018 the only cardiac surgery department in Moscow, deployed within the framework of a children's multidisciplinary hospital. The department accepts up to 25 patients and can perform up to 250 operations per year for children with congenital heart defects.
