They began to think about the construction of such a "assistant" back in 2015 after the installation of such an elevator in the medical building of the institution. As the director of boarding school 2 Andrei Bobrov admits, it was necessary to write letters not only to specialized committees, but also to Russian President Vladimir Putin. Now 207 children study here, 108 of them are disabled, including nine children who move only with the help of a stroller. - Previously, parents and school staff carried people with limited mobility from floor to floor. For this, a specialized lift worked. For children who can move on their own, we have installed handrails throughout the school, - said Andrey Bobrov. It was possible to achieve such an installation only this year thanks to the Accessible Environment project: the construction took 8 months and 15 million rubles. This is due to the fact that the mine and additional corridors had to be attached to the main building. - Two elevators are designed for six and ten people, they are specialized for children with musculoskeletal disorders. The halls near the elevators are some kind of "safety islands", since you can stay in them during a fire for up to 40 minutes, - added Andrey Bobrov. Now the doors to the second and third floors are open for the pupils of the boarding school, where not only classrooms are located, but also a library, a sports hall and a museum. - This is a unique school. Studying here, children can receive qualified medical care using modern equipment, in the halls of exercise therapy and hydrotherapy, - said Elena Rossiyskaya, deputy chairman of the committee of education and science of the Kursk region. “Today, there is an" elevator of endless possibilities "here, now a child can go up to the library or visit the gym more than once. In addition, the regional committee of education and science is already considering the possibility of treating children from other schools in the region here. There are also plans to reconstruct the hostel where young Kurds live. The cost of the project is 214 million rubles. Irina SIDORENKO Author's photo
