The Human Rights Ombudsman in the Russian Federation Tatyana Moskalkova asked the senators to pay attention to the solution of the problem related to the provision of housing for orphans and children left without parental care.

"I would ask you to pay attention to the need to consider the issue of regulating the order (provision) of housing for orphans and children left without parental care, regardless of whether or not they have registration at the place of residence or at the place of stay," Moskalkova said during speeches at a meeting in the Federation Council on Wednesday.
The Ombudsman stressed that this issue persists from year to year.
In February of this year, the official representative of the Prosecutor General's Office of Russia, Alexander Kurennoy, called the situation with the provision of housing to orphans children as catastrophic: in two years, prosecutors revealed more than 80 thousand violations. According to him, over the course of two years, the employees of the supervisory department made 5,500 submissions to eliminate violations, almost all of them were satisfied, 38,000 lawsuits and applications for the restoration of violated orphans' rights were filed, 42 criminal cases were initiated based on the materials of the prosecutor's office.
